First Full Day in Haiti

That was some kind of heat! With a RealFeel of 98 degrees, we had our first day at the school. A lot of progress was made laying block. We had a tremendous time with our hard-working Haitian friends. The food was exceptional and the hospitality was above and beyond. We are so thankful to Louisenette who stayed at the airport all day until our lost luggage arrived. We were missing five pieces (some of us would say the most important) and we were happy to finally have them.

We started the day with Haitian work team having devotionals in an old rum factory. We split up into different work areas. Some backfilled with shovels, wheelbarrows and buckets while others moved blocks and helped lay them in place.

Then it was time for a midmorning snack, spaghetti with onions and peppers with ketchup as a sauce.

This was the wall before we started...
 and after.
At the end of the day we had laid six rows of cement block. The full length of the building.

Another highlight of the day was meeting some of the kids we are building the school for.
We enjoyed playing games with them, watching them dance and playing with
Frank's hair.
